Newcastle United are reportedly pursuing Jonathan Bamba.

According to Le10 Sport, Newcastle United are sensing a bargain as they pursue a deal to sign Saint-Etienne forward Jonathan Bamba ahead of the January transfer window.
The Magpies have adjusted well to life back in the Premier League, and head to Burnley on Monday night having lost just three of their first league games, with four wins in that run.
If there is one thing that Newcastle fans may be hoping for though, it’s greater potency going forward, as Rafael Benitez’s men have often relied on set pieces for goals.

Now, Le10 Sport report that Newcastle are eyeing up an attacking addition for 2018, with continued interest in signing Saint-Etienne forward Jonathan Bamba.
Bamba, 21, has come through the ranks with Saint-Etienne following a move from Alfortville in 2011, and he has impressed for the Ligue 1 side this season having returned from a loan spell with Angers.
Bamba has hit four goals in nine league games this season, mostly playing as a striker but also featuring out wide for Oscar Garcia’s side, offering width, pace and goals to the Saint-Etienne side.

The problem for Saint-Etienne is that Bamba’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Le10 Sport note that Newcastle are ‘sniffing a bargain’, as are Lille and Sevilla, as talks over a new deal for Bamba are showing no signs of improvement.
That means that Newcastle could pursue a cut-price deal for Bamba in January, or wait until his deal expires to land him for modest compensation, in a move which could boost the Magpies’ attacking options.
