Liverpool fans will feel encouraged by what Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez has said about his teammate Boubacar Kamara, a player the Reds’ sporting director Michael Edwards reported wants to bring to Anfield.

According to Calciomercato, as covered by HITC Sport, Liverpool are interested in signing Kamara from Marseille in the summer of 2021.

The defensive midfielder is 21 years of age and is a rising star in French football, having established himself as a key figure at Marseille.

Marseille central defender Gonzalez is a big fan of Kamara, and he believes that the 21-year-old is the best player in Ligue 1.

FootMercato quotes Gonzalez as saying about Kamara: “What he does for the team, for OM, it’s incredible. He’s only 21 but it looks like he’s 30. For me, Bouba is the best player in the league!”

Good signing for Liverpool?

Kamara has been on the books of Marseille his entire professional club football career so far and can only get better in the coming years.

The youngster has made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 and five in the Champions League for the French outfit so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Given Liverpool’s struggles this season, there is an argument to be made that their squad could do with freshening up.

With Georginio Wijnaldum out of contract at the Reds at the end of the season, there could be a spot opening up in the midfield department.

Kamara can only get better and improve in the coming years, and at the right price, he would be a very smart signing for Liverpool, not just for now, but for the long term as well.
