A host of French clubs are interested in signing Sunderland winger, Adnan Januzaj. Should Newcastle join the race too?
Sunderland’s Adnan Januzaj warms up before the match
Adnan Januzaj remains in the dark over his future, according to reports from The Times.
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, cast doubt on Januzaj’s future yesterday, saying he has made a decision already.
“I have decided, but I am not going to tell you,” Mourinho said, as quoted by The Times.
The Belgian and his agent are planning to hold talks with United at the end of the season about his contract that expires in the summer of 2018.
The Times reports that a host of French clubs – Lyon, Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco – are interested in signing him.
Januzaj, once seen as a boy wonder, has cut a sorrow figure during his loan spell with Sunderland. In the recent defeat against Watford, he was jeered at by the home fans, and was sarcastically applauded when Moyes took the 22-year-old off.
Should Newcastle United be interested in signing him?
The Andros Townsend saga in January showed that Rafael Benitez is keen to add a winger who can bring pace on the flanks. Christian Atsu could return to his parent club, while there are question marks over Yoan Gouffran’s Premier League credentials. In any case, his contract is up this summer.
Januzaj’s form may have dropped alarmingly, but the Belgian is still a young player and has age on his side to resurrect his future. He has skill, pace, intelligence, and all the essential qualities to be a top player.
