The Nottingham Forest boss is in no way interested in selling either of the pair.
Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has dismissed talk linking both Henri Lansbury and Michail Antonio with a City Ground exit, according to BBC Sport.
Indeed, Freedman admits Lansbury has been the subject of a bid from fellow Championship side Burnley but says that offer is not even worth comment.
The Forest boss also says the Clarets ‘talk a good game’ but is unimpressed with a bid for his ‘fantastic’ captain.
The same was said about a bid for star winger Michail Antonio earlier this summer. The Nottingham Forest manager says Antonio is the best player in the Championship and therefore has no intention of selling the 25-year-old.
Freedman told BBC Radio Nottingham: “Burnley talk a very good game and try to throw their weight around. But Henri is my captain; he is a great guy to work with and has fantastic quality. That bid is not even worth a comment.
“The situation with Michail is simple. We had a bid that I did not respond to. He is the best player in the Championship and you don’t want to be selling the best player in the Championship.”
A sign of intent?
Both Nottingham Forest players could, of course, still end up leaving the City Ground before the end of the summer. But Freedman’s comments are no doubt a sign of intent.
As the coach states, if Forest want any chance of a successful campaign, they have to hold onto their best talent. Lansbury was occasionally criticised for his performances last season but is still a firm part of Freedman’s plans. Antonio’s quality, meanwhile, speaks for itself.
