The Frenchman would be the ideal signing for West Bromwich Albion this summer.
Baggies fans will be pleased that Tony Pulis has finally spent some serious money this summer, following the signing of Jay Rodriguez from Southampton for £14 million earlier this month.
Whether the West Brom boss will strengthen further though, remains to be seen, although it is quite clear that reinforcements are needed at the Hawthorns, especially in the defensive department.
Pulis needs more options in the right-back position, with Craig Dawson being relied upon to play far too many games, in what is such a physically punishing league.
Bacary Sagna in action
With this in mind, the Black Country outfit should consider a move for Bacary Sagna, with the Frenchman available on a free transfer following his release from Manchester City.
The 34-year-old is still an elite performer, despite his advancing years, and would bring so much quality to the West Brom squad, what with his high energy levels, and immense experience of playing for teams who are expected to win, week in, week out.
The France international embodies everything that a modern day full-back should be. He is equally as effective when going forward as he is when defending, and the manner in which he times his over-lapping runs to perfection is a real talent that would be a huge asset to the Baggies.
One potential stumbling block to any kind of deal for Sagna could be his wage demands. The former Arsenal star was on £80,000 per week at the Etihad, according to the Daily Star.
If some kind of compromise could be reached, however, and Pulis manages to bring the Frenchman to the Hawthorns, it could turn out to be one heck of a signing.
