Leeds United should look at Crystal Palace striker Fraizer Campbell.
Crystal Palace’s Fraizer Campbell celebrates
It is five years since Stuart Pearce gave Fraizer Campbell his one and only England cap, and the striker has not looked like adding to it since.
Campbell’s career is stuck in a rut at Crystal Palace, with the striker yet to start a Premier League game this season for the Eagles.
He is a player Leeds United boss Garry Monk should strongly consider targeting due to his wealth of experience.
Campbell features on HITC’s list of 50 top free agents this summer, ranked at 41
The striker has played at Championship level for Cardiff where he struck seven goals in 12 games and could be a real asset whether Leeds win promotion or fall short.
He has experience of winning promotion with both the Bluebirds and at Hull City earlier in his career
His time spent playing in the Premier League would benefit the Whites if they get there, who will not need to rip up their attack and start again, merely find a complement for prolific striker Chris Wood.
At 29, Campbell is not over the hill, and should have plenty to prove after being snubbed by Sam Allardyce so far this campaign.
Leeds will likely have cash at their disposal this summer, but did not spend freely in January, and a move for Campbell on a free transfer is low risk.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported in January 2016 that Leeds had made an unsuccessful enquiry with Palace to sign Campbell. This summer they could get their man for nothing.
