There was an interesting development in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, with former Liverpool and Ajax star Ryan Babel terminating his contract with Al Ain after failing to play a single game this year (Reuters).

The 29-year-old is now a free agent, and would make a useful signing for Wolves.
Babel has not played in Europe for the past three years, and because of this, signing him would represent a substantial risk from a playing perspective, but from a financial aspect, Wolves have nothing to lose.
The Dutchman never fulfilled his incredibly high potential while at Liverpool, after he signed for the Merseyside club for a fee of £11.5 million from Eredivisie giants Ajax in 2007.
He is still a highly-skilled, extremely talented individual, albeit one who has lost his way in the world of football.
A move to Wolves would provide him with the opportunity to reignite his career, and the competition of Championship football would certainly inject a spark back into his game.

An accomplished dribbler, Babel’s game is direct in style, and he always looks to beat defenders before whipping potent deliveries into the box.
He would provide Walter Zenga with another option, in what is one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world, and enable him to insert a greater level of variety into his tactical play.
Should a move come to fruition, Wolves would certainly be in a far stronger position to achieve promotion to the promised land.
