Rangers picked up a 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon, easing past Livingston at Ibrox to open up a six-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers grabbed all three points with goals from Joe Aribo and Jermain Defoe, taking full advantage of Celtic’s 3-3 draw away at Aberdeen.

Calvin Bassey turned in a strong performance, with the 20-year-old showing that he can be trusted to fill in for Borna Barisic at left back whenever needed despite his relative inexperience.

Whilst he makes strides at Ibrox, his former Leicester City teammate Dennis Gyamfi may just be wishing he had made the same move to Rangers.

The Daily Record reported in June that Rangers wanted to sign Gyamfi, having been impressed with the right back whilst racking left back Bassey in the Leicester ranks.

Gyamfi ended up leaving Leicester when his contract ended on June 30th, and Steven Gerrard contacted Brendan Rodgers for a second opinion on the 18-year-old before making a move according to Graphic Sports Online in Ghana.

Then, everything went quiet. Rangers haven’t been linked with Gyamfi since then, with homegrown youngster Nathan Patterson seemingly being trusted as James Tavernier’s backup this season instead of making a new signing.

So where is Gyamfi now? Well, as things stand, he is remarkably still without a club despite links to the likes of Arsenal, Feyenoord and Manchester United, with clubs yet to bite on his availability.

As reported by Het Laatste Nieuws, Gyamfi joined Cercle Brugge on trial in July, but no full-time move to Belgium materialised for the teenager.

Maybe Rangers will come back in, but that now seems unlikely – and Gyamfi now has to watch on as Bassey makes an impression under Gerrard for the title-chasing Gers.
