Vaclav Hladky has added fuel to the fire linking him with a summer move to Ranges, admitting to the Daily Record that he wants to stay in Britain and loves living in Glasgow.
This is a transfer saga which dates all the way back to November.
Eight months ago, the St Mirren shot-stopper admitted to the Sun that Rangers had shown an interest in taking him to Ibrox.
And considering that 38-year-old Allan McGregor isn’t getting any younger, not to mention the fact that Wes Foderingham will depart this month, a new goalkeeper looks like a must during the upcoming transfer window.
Hladky has just become a free agent with St Mirren confirming his departure from the Paisley-based outfit this week.
The 29-year-old was reluctant to confirm whether or not Rangers would be his destination but, reading between the lines, its clear that he would struggle to turn down an offer from Steven Gerrard’s Premiership giants.
“I want to stay at a club in Britain,” Hladky explains. “(Glasgow) is a very pleasant place to live. I like the friendly lifestyle of the local people and I can’t praise it enough here.

“It was a great experience for me to shake hands with Steven Gerrard and the praise I get motivates me.
“I don’t want to speculate about Rangers being my next team. My transfer is being worked out at the moment – it could be to a club in Scotland or the English Championship.”
Rangers’ gain would most certainly be St Mirren’s loss.
Hladky is a bonafide modern-day Buddies legend, having saved the club from relegation with his penalty shoot-out heroics in the relegation play-off triumph over Dundee United last year.
