Newcastle United should not hesitate to sign the Italian.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has a lot of work to do at St James’ Park this season, if he is to guide his side to a top 10 finish in the Premier League table.
The Spaniard wasn’t sufficiently backed in the transfer market this summer, and with the window now closed, he will have to make do with what he already has at his disposal…or will he?
There is one more option left for Benitez, with clubs still allowed to bring in free agents, and with this in mind, the Magpies should make a move for Claudio Marchisio, who is available on a free transfer following his recent release from Juventus.
The 32-year-old is vastly experienced, and possesses an abundance of quality. His technical ability is second to none, and he would undoubtedly help improve the fluidity of Newcastle’s play through the middle of the park.
Marchisio is a wonderful passer of the football, and he would bring that added level of nouse and guile to the Toon’s play that they have sometimes lacked in midfield.
Whilst it might prove to be challenging to tempt the 55-capped Italy international into joining Newcastle, with someone like Rafa at the helm, anything is possible, and the Spaniard should not hesitate to bring the former Juve ace to Tyneside.
