Villa are yet to add to the signings of Lovre Kalinic and Kourtney Hause.

Tendance Ouest have quoted Caen defender Frederic Guilbert’s agent as saying that Championship side Aston Villa have made an offer worth “a few million euros” for the Frenchman.
Villa have already completed signings for Croatian World Cup goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kourtney Hause on loan.
But it is clear that Villa are still looking to sign another central defender even though Tommy Elphick was recalled by the Midlands outfit from Hull City. A move for Harold Moukoudi has also been touted, after missing out in the summer.
Now, Guilbert seems to be a target for Villa this month, as Dean Smith looks to bring in more players to boost Villa’s chances of gaining promotion back to the Premier League at the third attempt.
“This is an offer of a few million euros [from Villa], with bonuses depending on his playing time and a possible rise in the Premier League,” Guilbert’s agent told Tendance Ouest.

A France Under-21 international, Guilbert has played 18 times for Caen in the top tier of French football this season, helping Caen keep four clean sheets. He has played at right-back and centre-back in equal measure.
The former Bordeaux player is a household name in French football, having made 113 appearances in Ligue 1 for both Bordeaux and Caen. At 24, Guilbert has his best years ahead of him and can offer cover in two defensive positions.
