After a number of stellar displays for England at the U20 World Cup, Freddie Woodman is likely to attract suitors in the Championship. Aston Villa should certainly be taking note.
Sam Johnstone, on loan at Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s move for Sam Johnstone looks to have become complicated as the Daily Mail report the Manchester United goalkeeper is in talks with a number of clubs.
The 24-year-old impressed at Villa Park last season, establishing himself as Steve Bruce’s first choice, but links to Leicester City, Sunderland and Watford could see him ply his trade elsewhere next season.

However, if Villa are forced to look beyond Johnstone, there could be some attractive alternative options.
Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman impressed on loan at Kilmarnock after a January loan move and he is again likely to be available for a temporary transfer in the coming months.
A switch to an ambitious Championship club would suit both Newcastle and the 20-year-old, who is proving at this summer’s U20 World Cup that he has immense promise.

Woodman has made four appearances for England en route to the semi-finals, with the Three Lions winning each game courtesy of three clean sheets and a string of excellent saves.
The young keeper – also capped at under-21 level – will surely soon challenge for a starting berth at St James’ Park, but he could represent a fine short-term option for Villa as they push for promotion back to the Premier League.
