Manchester United midfielder Fred has raved about Leeds United star Raphinha on the club’s official website.

Fred has said that his United teammate Bruno Fernandes has been speaking about the Leeds winger all season.

Leeds will take on the Red Devils at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa has said that the winger is a doubt for the match, having missed the game against Liverpool on Monday due to injury.

Fred has added that a lot of clubs have their eyes on his Brazilian compatriot.

The Brazil international midfielder told United’s official website: “Bruno’s been talking about Raphinha ever since he arrived. They played together at Sporting.

“He’s a great player having an amazing season and a lot of clubs have their eye on him. I met him recently, great guy, excellent player but… I hope he won’t be lining up against us! [laughs].

“I wish him a quick recovery and a lot of success in his career. He’s a stand-out star player for Leeds so, of course, it’s better for us if he’s not on the pitch.”

Important player for Leeds United

Raphinha joined Leeds from Rennes in the summer of 2020 and has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old Brazilian has made 23 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Whites this season, scoring six goals and providing six assists in the process.

UOL Esporte reported last month interest from United in Raphinha. JuveLive claimed in February, as covered by HITC Sport, that Liverpool are looking at the 24-year-old.

However, last month, Leeds director of football Victor Orta told BBC Radio Leeds that there have been no offers for the winger, and that the Brazilian will not leave this summer.
