Everton’s Yannick Bolasie flopped at Aston Villa this season.

It looks like Everton’s Yannick Bolasie might’ve landed on his feet since leaving Aston Villa.

The Villans terminated the 29-year-old’s season-long loan at Villa Park last month, sending him back to Everton.

Bolasie wound up joining Anderlecht in Belgium and three goals in four league games suggests that his latest loan away from Goodison is going quite well.

The France-born winger, a £25 million signing by the Toffees in 2016 [The Guardian], scored twice in the 2-2 draw with Club Brugge this past weekend.

Anderlecht boss Fred Rutten gushed about him afterwards.

“He brings efficiency,” he told Voetbal International, translated by Inside Futbol. “He not only scores, but also works himself to death and that is crucial for our team.”

Aston Villa fans might be puzzled over the ‘works himself to death’ quote.

Nobody doubts Bolasie’s ability, but his work ethic was questioned by a lot of Villa fans during his time in the West Midlands. In fact, some might – and did – call him downright lazy, which is perhaps why it didn’t really work out for him under Steve Bruce and later Dean Smith.

If he is putting in shifts for the Belgians then you wonder if it will last or whether his high-energy displays are linked to wanting to prove a point.
