Ryan Christie says the Ibrox midfielder certainly does still cover some ground, despite criticism from some Rangers fans.

This week saw Rangers take on Highland League side Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup. It was a memorable game for the lower league team even if Josh Windass did put them to the sword with a hat-trick seeing the Gers to a 3-0 triumph.
One man who thoroughly enjoyed the experience was Fraserburgh captain Ryan Christie. Speaking to the Evening Express he made his delight at the experience clear, in particular referencing the opportunity to play against Niko Kranjcar. Whilst the Croatian may now be 33-years-old, Christie made it clear age was acting as no barrier for the Ibrox star:

“People say Kranjcar is old now and doesn’t move about a lot. But when you’re marking him, trust me, he moves about a lot.
“He was good and was working a lot in front of the back four and behind me.
“So it was an absolute privilege to play against him, and I’m happy.”
Kranjcar had a hand in all three of Rangers’ goals in the cup fixture but despite that he still received criticism from some fans.

The Croatian has suffered some bad fortune since arriving in Glasgow, including a serious knee injury. That, coupled with age and the fact he was never Usain Bolt in the first place, occasionally does make the veteran look a little sluggish. That is obviously frustrating for the Ibrox faithful, who feel money could be better spent on more energetic options in the Rangers midfield.
But it seems that perhaps off camera and away from the action he might be more mobile than Rangers fans see when he gets on the ball.
Whilst fans may not see the work he puts in, it seems players are certainly feeling it.
