Fraser Forster has told the Scottish Sun that he found the pressure when he was at Celtic totally unique.

Celtic are the favourites for every match they play in Scotland, and always carry the weight of expectation of picking up three points.

Forster admits that he has never experienced such demands at any other club he has played for.

But the England international, who now plays for Southampton, insists he enjoyed every moment he spent with the Glasgow side.

“When you’re at Celtic there’s a real unique pressure on you. It’s a good pressure,” Forster said.

“Whether it’s a league game, cup or Europe you’re expected to win and dropping points isn’t really acceptable.

“That’s a fantastic pressure to have on yourself. You go to the final and have that pressure on you. You’re expected to win it. But you get used to it at Celtic. It’s a huge club and that’s what’s demanded of you.

“It’s hard to explain the pressure in Scotland unless you’ve been a player and played up there yourself.”

Forster represented Celtic for four years, between 2010 and 2014.

During his time with the Bhoys, the rangy stopper developed a reputation for being one of the finest stoppers in Britain.

Forster impressed in both Europe and domestic action with Celtic, before moving to Southampton.

Since making the switch to the Saints, Forster has continued to go from strength to strength and is now an established member of England’s national team.
