Fraser Forster has told Sky Sports that Rangers still have a chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title – but believes Celtic now have it in their hands, after Sunday’s 2-1 Old Firm win at Ibrox.
Rangers were beaten by Celtic despite Aaron Ramsey giving his side the lead inside the first five minutes. Goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers saw Celtic come from behind to win away from home.
The win sees Celtic go six points clear at the top of the Premiership title. With six games to play, the Hoops look more than likely to go on and win in Ange Postecoglou’s first season – especially with Alfredo Morelos injured.
But Forster – who played 236 times for Celtic across two spells – believes the title race is not over until it is mathematically over. There is still another Old Firm game to play, albeit at Celtic. But Forster says Celtic are close.
“I watched it. I love Celtic, loved my five years there. A huge result to win after going behind at Ibrox. But it’s never over until it’s over. It will be an interesting run in, it will give them the advantage.
“There is still one more Old Firm and plenty of points to play for. It is a huge result but still lots of work to do to get that title over the line. They will get massive confidence and it will push them on, hopefully.”
Forster on Rangers, Celtic: Do Gers really have a chance of title?
With Morelos, it might have been that had the Gers beating Celtic and won all six of their remaining Premiership games – they might have stood a chance. But losing Morelos is an enormous blow.
Kemar Roofe looked a shadow of even his own self, let alone Morelos, against Celtic on Sunday. Fashion Sakala is quicker than Morelos, but lacks the ability to lead the line like Morelos. It is certainly Celtic’s to lose.
