The Celtic goalkeeper helped the Hoops to a treble.
Fraser Forster has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon was “superb” for Brendan Rodgers’s side last season.
Gordon could face his former Celtic team-mate at Hampden Park on Saturday when Scotland host England in a World Cup qualifier.
The Scottish stopper helped the Hoops to a domestic treble last season – a remarkable achievement given that Rodgers and co did not lose a game all season.
The 34-year-old endured a tough two years at Sunderland prior to joining the Parkhead club, with a knee injury rendering him a spectator for so long.
And Forster has paid tribute to the former Hearts keeper ahead of a potential meeting in Glasgow this weekend.
“Craig’s been superb. He’s worked so hard and very few players would be able to come back from that length of injury and that time with so few games,” he told The GET.
“It tells you the character and mental strength that he has.”
Forster and Gordon only had a matter of weeks together at Celtic, before the Englishman was sold to Premier League side Southampton.
It is nice to see the veteran keeper receive a bit of praise at a time when the Hoops’ attacking quantities such as Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele or Stuart Armstrong have rightly taken so much of the plaudits.
