The Celtic goalkeeper is impressed by how good the squad is at Celtic Park.

Fraser Forster admits he was surprised by just how good his Celtic teammates are upon his return to the club in the summer transfer window, The Evening Times report.

A late arrival in the wake of injury to Scott Bain, Forster has since installed himself as the recognised number one ahead of Craig Gordon.

He’s been in fine form between the sticks for Neil Lennon, looking every bit the player he was in Scotland prior to his £10m move to Southampton in 2014 (The Guardian).

Now, the former England international has claimed that the Hoops wouldn’t look out of place alongside cash-rich sides in the English Premier League.

As quoted by The Evening Times, he said: “I have been surprised at just how good they are. I knew there was a good squad here the second I came through the door but until you actually see people in training and day in day out and you see what they can do.

“The young lads especially are so talented. As they gather that experience they are just going to get better and better.

“I think we’d do alright (in the EPL). Looking at what we’ve got in the dressing room and the team we’ve got, there’s no reason why we wouldn’t have a comfortable season in the Premier League.”

Are Celtic heading for another stellar season?

All the noises coming out of the Hoops camp certainly suggest confidence is high in Lennon’s squad right now.

With new boys Boli Bolingoli and Christopher Jullien predicting they’ll go far in the UEFA Europa League and Forster now making his Premier League suggestion, the players clearly feel they are an elite side.

There’s a long way to go to prove that on the pitch but the initial signs are good. The fearless manner in which they travelled to Rennes and secured a point showed they can compete at the level of teams in the top five European leagues.

Lennon has his team moving in the right direction and after solid summer recruitment the Hoops are now poised to win even more trophies this season.
