Fraser Forster, Craig Gordon and Scott Bain are the three main goalkeepers at Celtic.

Celtic have arguably the strongest goalkeeping department in the Scottish Premiership. Craig Gordon and Scott Bain were already competing for the spot between the posts, before Fraser Forster arrived on loan from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Bain is injured at the moment, meaning that the battle now is between 31-year-old England international goalkeeper Forster and 36-year-old Scotland international goalkeeper Gordon.

Forster has given his take on the situation, and he has said that the current situation hard for the two fit goalkeepers.

Forster told The Scottish Sun: “I spoke to Craig before the game the other night and wished him well.

“He did the same before the Rangers game. We are experienced players. We understand how hard the position is.

“We just want the best for the team. We understand that it’s a hard situation and only one of us can play.”

Fraser Forster first choice?

Forster was struggling for playing time at Southampton, and the Englishman would not have returned to Celtic had he not been assured of getting the number one spot.

True, the Englishman has to earn his spot, but manager Neil Lennon would not have been able to convince him to move back to Celtic Park had he not been assured that he will be given the chance to stake his claim.

Forster is the first-choice goalkeeper at the moment, and Gordon and Bain – when he is back to fitness – will have to push him hard.
