The Bayern Munich great has been speaking after a trip to see Tottenham Hotspur’s facilities.
One of the greatest footballers ever to play the game has been speaking about Tottenham Hotspur as they prepare for their Audi Cap match against Real Madrid.
Franz Beckenbaur is a Bayern Munich legend and the club’s honorary president and in an interview posted on Tottenham’s official website he spoke of the North London club in glowing terms.
Having visited their training facilities and seen how their new stadium is developing, the German great was effusive in his praise, going on to say, “I think Tottenham is one of the most exciting clubs in the whole world.”
That is a bold statement and it indicates just how far the club could go when they are in their new home and with a huge amount of exciting young players coming through the ranks.
Next week Tottenham face Real in the Audi Cup competition and Beckenbauer suggested Mauricio Pochettino’s men could have the edge over Gareth Bale and company due to the fact that the season starts in just a few days.
“It will be an exciting match because I think you (Spurs) have an advantage because you start the season earlier,” Beckenbauer told Spurs TV. “It’s fantastic to have a test like this, because the new season starts after the Audi Cup so therefore it’s a real test.”
Tottenham have played the majority of their senior matches behind closed doors this summer but the match against the Spanish giants is a test that will be seen by people across the world as Spurs ready themselves for the bigger challenges to come.
