Glasgow Rangers recruitment chief Frank McParland has hailed new signing Jordan Rossiter.
Rangers’ head of recruitment Frank McParland has told the Daily Mail that he thinks new signing Jordan Rossiter can be a Champions League player.
The Gers are making moves to improve their squad this summer, and having already sealed pre-contract agreements with Accrington duo Matt Crooks and Josh Windass, they swooped to land a huge signing last Friday evening.
Rangers confirmed the signing of Liverpool teenager Jordan Rossiter, with the midfielder penning a four-year deal at Ibrox, which will come into effect later this summer.
The 19-year-old has come up through the ranks since the age of just six, and after making five first-team appearances for the Reds, Rossiter is now heading to Glasgow this summer.
Rossiter’s academy director for a spell at Liverpool was Rangers’ head of recruitment Frank McParland, and it seems that the relationship between the two played a huge part in the transfer.
Having reunited at Ibrox, McParland spoke to the Daily Mail about the transfer, and suggested that the player simply can’t wait to play for Rangers.
McParland then made a bold prediction, claiming that Rossiter can be a Champions League player if he continues to develop, tipping him to become a ‘top, top player’ during his time with Rangers.
“Jordan is desperate to play for Rangers, to get started,” said McParland. “He knows the manager and David Weir very well now and is looking forward to it so much. I think the two of them will have a right go in getting him to the top level because if Jordan fulfils his potential, he can be a top, top player for Rangers.”
“What do I mean by that? I think he can be a Champions League player. I really do. Hopefully, it is going to be with Rangers. That would be great for us. I love local players. But in two or three years’ time, Jordan will be like one. If he is at the top of his game, we need to keep those players playing for us. As the club develops again, and gets back to where it belongs, people are not going to want to leave Rangers. That’s the mentality we need,” he added.
