Celtic host Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this Sunday.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
Frank McAvennie has suggested that Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that his Celtic side can put in a performance that sees them threaten to reach double figures when they face Rangers this Sunday, The Scottish Sun reports.
The Hoops host their Old Firm foes in a game that could potentially take them to the brink of securing the Scottish Premiership title, so understandably go into the clash as overwhelming favourites.
And McAvennie has suggested that Rodgers will be expecting his side to record a dominant win and perhaps embarrass the Gers more than when they beat them 5-1 in the first meeting of the campaign.
“Brendan will be thinking ‘Let’s see if we can beat them 7-0 or 8-0’,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
“The manager won’t say it because he won’t be disrespectful to Rangers.
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele
“He’ll just want to go and win the game.
“But if Celtic can get the game won then it might be a case of thinking ‘Let’s kick on and get a few’.
Based on current form, it would hardly be a surprise if Celtic did record a dominant win. They have not failed to win a game since facing Manchester City in December, and have, staggeringly, not dropped points in the league since September.

Meanwhile, although Rangers recorded their most emphatic win of the season in their most recent game – they dispatched Hamilton 6-0 to set up a Scottish Cup semi-final with the Bhoys – they have struggled for consistency all season and have lost their last three away games.
While they may be lifted if they manage to appoint a new manager in time for the game – though it is looking increasingly likely that Graeme Murty will still be in charge regardless of whether they make an appointment before kick-off – the way Celtic are playing at the moment, it would take a brave person to predict any result other than a Hoops win.
