Reports suggest Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes went into the Rangers changing room on Wednesday night.
Frank McAvennie has told Open Goal’s Right In The Coupon that Rangers and Steven Gerrard lacked class, after reports suggested Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes was forced to enter the Gers’ changing room.
Rangers earned an excellent 4-2 win over Aberdeen on Wednesday night, which saw the Teddy Bears solidify their place in second – opening up a five-point gap over the Dons who remain in third.
The Daily Record claims that McInnes’ confronted Rangers staff after the Gers were ‘whooping it up and blasting music’, which made the Dons manager unhappy. He complained to Gerrard about the issue.
Celtic legend McAvennie reacted to the news that Rangers were being loud after the win, and claims that both Gerrard and Rangers lacked class – especially after Gerrard’s comments on Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke.
“It was a big game for Rangers,” McAvennie said. “They’ve got carried away, singing songs. I don’t know what type of music they’re playing. Listen, they’re celebrating, but there’s a bit of class about it.
“Steven Gerrard has been on about Stevie Clarke all week having no class. When you get a big win like that, you cannot do that. I just think there’s a wee bit of class about it, take your three points and go home.”
Clarke suggested Jermain Defoe should be banned after winning a penalty against St. Mirren, after Killie winger Jordan Jones was banned for two games earlier in the season for diving.
Gerrard reacted to Clarke’s comments, suggesting he lacked class and tried to get one of his players banned: “That’s not the type of guy I know Steve Clarke for. He is usually first class.”
Rangers take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday evening in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
