West Ham United have rewarded Robert Snodgrass with a new deal.

West Ham United's Robert Snodgrass

Frank McAvennie has intimated on Twitter that he recommended West Ham United to Robert Snodgrass.

The Scotland international joined West Ham in a £10 million deal from Hull City in January of 2017.

It was a difficult first six months in East London for the 31-year-old winger, who was loaned to then-Championship side Aston Villa for the entire 2017-18 campaign.

But Manuel Pellegrini decided to keep Snodgrass in the Irons’ senior set-up last term and the former Leeds star vindicated the Chilean manager with a brilliant first full season.

The Hammers rewarded his form by signing him up to a new one-year deal this morning, and his compatriot McAvennie, a legend with the London side, is delighted for Snodgrass.

Snodgrass’s evolution at West Ham is quite a thing. He was written off as a flop by fans for so long, but now he’s a firm favourite among the Irons’ supporters.

You could argue that he is their equivalent to Moussa Sissoko at Tottenham, a previously derided figure whose solid attitude and never-say-die mentality has utterly transformed his fortunes.
