Frank McAvennie wasn’t impressed with Celtic’s display against East Kilbride.

Celtic beat East Kilbride 2-0 today in the Scottish Cup – but Bhoys legend Frank McAvennie was far from impressed.

The Bhoys came into the match under huge pressure, after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Ross County and Aberdeen.

Manager Ronny Deila desperately needed a victory, and couldn’t afford to endure a major cup upset against non-league opposition East Kilbride.

Fortunately for the Norwegian, his side passed the test, with goals from Leigh Griffiths and new signing Colin Kazim-Richards handing Celtic a 2-0 win and a passage into the next round of the competition.

Still though, some aren’t impressed. Celtic legend Frank McAvennie took to Twitter after the final whistle, and gave a stinging verdict on the performance.

McAvennie admitted that it was nice to go through, but stated that only winning 2-0 against semi-pro opposition was ‘awful’, before praising the non-league side for their performance.

Ultimately, Deila needed a win in any fashion, and whilst it wasn’t Celtic’s most convincing win ever, it at least gives him something to build on after a tough week in the Celtic Park hot seat.
