With Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty unavailable for the Scottish Premiership match against Hamilton Academical away from home this weekend after the Irish FA invoked FIFA’s five-day rule, his Ibrox teammate and Colombia international striker Morelos is likely to start for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Former Celtic striker McAvennie has spoken highly of the 22-year-old – who has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2017 when he moved to the Gers from Finnish team HJK Helsinki for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £1.5 million.
McAvennie said about Morelos on Open Goal’s Right in The Coupon show: “I think he is one of the guys you certainly would not want sitting on the bench anyway.
“He would come on if you need a goal. He will come on and he can easily get that for you.”

Quality footballer
Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and the Colombian will be aiming to bag one or two goals for Rangers against Hamilton this weekend.
The 22-year-old Colombia international striker has scored three goals and provided three assists in eight Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
