Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has spoken highly of Southampton-owned Rangers midfielder Steven Davis on Open Goal.

McAvennie believes that Davis has looked fit since he has returned to the team and is playing well at the moment.

The former Celtic and West Ham United striker has also praised Jermain Defoe, who joined Rangers on an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth in the Premier League in the January transfer window.

McAvennie said on Open Goal: “To be fair, since Steven Davis has come back, he has been playing well and he looks fit. He has come up here and done that. And Defoe, I like Defoe anyway. He is better for the team anyway than Morelos is.”
