Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers reportedly want Uche Ikpeazu, and so do Neil Lennon’s Celtic.
According to a report in The Sun earlier this month, Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are interested in signing Heart of Midlothian forward Ikpeazu in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic are tracking the 24-year-old forward.
Former Celtic striker McAvennie has suggested that Ikpeazu is not good enough for the Hoops.
McAvennie said on Open Goal about Ikpeazu to Celtic speculation: “He is a handful, I know, but not for Celtic. They need quality. When Edouard is on form, he’s head and shoulders above him. He is a good player, but not for Celtic.”
Not good enough?
Ikpeazu has made 11 starts and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Hearts so far this season, scoring two goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
According to The Sun, the forward scored 22 goals in 80 matches in two seasons during his time at Cambridge United in England.
The forward is not prolific, and it is hard to see him become a success at Celtic or Rangers; he is unlikely to establish himself as the first-choice at Celtic Park or at Ibrox.
