As announced on Rangers’ official website, Lafferty will miss Rangers’ match against Hamilton Academical away from home in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
The Irish FA has invoked FIFA’s five-day rule, meaning that the Northern Ireland international forward will not be available for the match against Hamilton.
This comes following Lafferty’s decision to pull out of Northern Ireland’s recent international matches due to an Achilles injury, as stated on BBC Sport.
The 31-year-old forward, who is in his second spell at Rangers at the moment, made the call to Northern Ireland manager O’Neill the night before he was due to join up his international teammates, according to BBC Sport.

Former Celtic striker McAvennie has given his take on the situation, and has suggested that Northern Ireland manager O’Neill is right to have invoked the five-day rule.
