Frank McAvennie has suggested on Open Goal that Rangers should loan Jake Hastie back to Motherwell.

Hastie is joining Rangers in the summer transfer window on a free after leaving Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell.

The 20-year-old winger has already a pre-contract agreement with Steven Gerrard’s side.

Former Celtic striker McAvennie has suggested that Rangers should loan the Scotland Under-21 international winger back to Motherwell in the summer transfer window.

McAvennie has also suggested that Hastie will not get much playing time at Rangers next season.

McAvennie said about Hastie on Open Goal: “Three months he has played, and he is getting rave reviews, which is great, but three months. He is going to Rangers. He is not going to get a game at Rangers.”

McAvennie added: “Get loaned back to Motherwell. That would be ideal for him.”

Rangers move

While it is true that Hastie is not going to get much playing time at Rangers next season, he is going to work under Steven Gerrard, and that can only be good for his development.

It will not be a bad idea for the winger to work with the Rangers first team for at least the first half of next season, and perhaps then evaluate whether or not to go out on loan in January 2020.
