Frank McAvennie comments on Celtic duo Odsonne Edouard and Oliver Burke

Oliver Burke is on loan at Celtic from West Bromwich Albion, while Odsonne Edouard is the first-choice striker.

Frank McAvennie has said on Open Goal that Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard saves himself for the big games.

Edouard is the first-choice striker at Celtic at the moment and has been playing well for the Glasgow giants this season.

According to WhoScored, the 21-year-old striker has made 19 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops this season, scoring 14 goals in the process.

The youngster has scored against Rangers in the Old Firm derby this season, and the Frenchman was also on target against the Gers during the 2017-18 campaign when he was on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Celtic striker McAvennie believes that Edouard saves himself for the best matches.

The former Scotland international striker has also stated that West Bromwich Albion-owned Celtic winger Oliver Burke is not a striker.

The 22-year-old former Nottingham Forest winger, signed on loan by the Hoops from West Brom in the Championship in England in the January transfer window, was deployed as a striker when Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Bhoys.

The youngster has made seven starts and four substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic, scoring four goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

McAvennie said about Edouard on Open Goal: “I just think Edouard seems to save himself for the big games.”

McAvennie said about Burke on Open Goal: “The boy Burke is not a striker. I feel for him, but he could play him somewhere else.”
