Celtic maintained their strong start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby on Sunday afternoon.

Odsonne Edouard put the Hoops in the lead in the Scottish Premiership game after 32 minutes, and Jonny Hayes doubled the advantage in the third minute of injury time.

Rangers ended the game with 10 men due to the dismissal of Jordan Jones in the sixth minute of injury time.

The Gers were hugely disappointing in the first half and failed to do much of note in attack, and although Gerrard’s side stepped up their game in the second period, it was not enough.

Celtic were the better side over the course of the 90 minutes, and Neil Lennon’s side once again demonstrated that they remain the team to beat in the Scottish Premiership.

Frank McAvennie was following the match, and the former Celtic star has praised the Bhoys’ backline and midfielder Scott Brown, saying that he was at his best.

Former Celtic star John Hartson has also expressed his delight at the win for the Glasgow giants, and so has Erik Sviatchenko, who left the Hoops for Midtjylland in 2018.
