Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have failed to progress to the final of the Scottish League Cup like their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic.
While Celtic won against Heart of Midlothian in the semi-finals of the competition earlier on Sunday, Rangers have suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aberdeen this evening.
Rangers headed into the match against Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen high on confidence, but Lewis Ferguson’s goal in the 79th minute destroyed the Ibrox club’s hopes of advancing to the final.
Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat for Rangers – and it’s just two words.
Ex-Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has also taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat to Gerrard’s team.
Over the course of the 90 minutes on Sunday evening, Aberdeen had 46% of the possession, took four shots of which two were on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.
Visitors Rangers had 54% of the possession, took 15 shots of which only one was on target, and earned six corners, according to BBC Sport.
