Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t have a fan in one World Cup winner.

Former France international Frank Leboeuf has slated Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, during a television appearance on RMC Sport’s Team Duga show [broadcast 05/02/2019].

Bielsa has proven a revelation in English football since joining Leeds last summer, but it’s a different case at one of his former clubs.

Benoit Cheyrou, who played under the Argentine at Marseille, told a story to RMC Sport earlier this week about the 63-year-old once sharing an elevator with his then-captain Steve Mandanda and refused to acknowledge him.

The 37-year-old midfielder added that Bielsa would ignore all of his players at the French club if they passed him in a hallway, and Leboeuf, a World Cup winner in 1998, admits that he isn’t a fan of the esteemed Leeds boss.

He said on RMC Sport’s Team Duga show: “He’s somebody I don’t like. I don’t like his life philosophy. I don’t like how he manages a group and for me he’s shown nothing.

“To take the lift in the morning with your captain, to not say hello and to not even look at him, there’s a bit of a problem.”

The Whites boss is well known for being somewhat aloof, but if his teams perform then does a manager’s personality matter?

Leeds are enjoying their best season for many years under Bielsa, whose side sit second in the Championship with a three-point cushion in the automatic promotion spots.

If he ends United’s 15-year Premier League exile come May, which seems distinctly possible, then he will be revered in West Yorkshire forever.
