Steven Gerrard’s former teammate Frank Lampard has been linked with the job at Ibrox club Rangers.
Gerrard left Rangers for Aston Villa this week.
The English manager led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title last season.
Lampard, who played with Gerrard for England, is one of the two leading candidates for the Rangers managerial job, according to The Herald.
Former Rangers star Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the other candidate.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Lampard “will wait and look for new opportunities in the next months”.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Lampard was in talks to take over as the Norwich City manager.
However, former Villa boss Dean Smith will become the new Norwich manager.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst clear favourite for Rangers?
Romano’s tweet on Lampard suggests that the Englishman is not in the running for the Rangers job.
Now, of course, we cannot say that for definite.
After all, other journalists will have other sources who may say otherwise and differ from what Romano is claiming.
However, if indeed Lampard plans to wait for new jobs now, then it appears that Van Bronckhorst is the clear favourite to replace Gerrard at Rangers.
In our view, Rangers fans will be happy with that.
