Frank Lampard has told his Everton press conference on Friday – as per the Liverpool Echo – that Tottenham striker Harry Kane is “in incredible form” and will pose his Toffees side a “threat” on Monday evening in London.
Kane, 28, failed to have a say in Tottenham losing to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Tuesday night – but has been in sensational form, as Lampard says, of late. The England skipper enjoyed a brilliant February.
The striker scored an impressive five goals in six games, including braces against Manchester City and Brighton. In the 4-0 win over Leeds, Kane got a goal of his own and then produced a stunning pass to find Son Heung-min.
Speaking ahead of Monday’s game between Everton and Tottenham, Lampard raved about “world-class” Kane in a warning to his Everton players that he would pose a threat to the Toffees backline on Monday.
“He’s in great form, incredible form. I’ve got so much time for Harry Kane, always have done. Humble, captain of England, and his threats are many. We’re playing against a world class No.9,” Lampard said.
Lampard on Kane: How can Everton deal with Tottenham star?
When Kane is on song, and playing alongside Son, he is normally unstoppable. Even Manchester City’s defence were made to look average by Kane during the 3-2 win. But Boro showed how to defend against him.
Indeed, instead of man marking him, keeping a couple of players in his vicinity at all times certainly closes down the magic he is capable of producing. But Everton will have to be at their best to stop the Spurs ace.
