Frank Lampard has told his Everton press conference that there is more to come from Richarlison under his guidance as manager. The Brazilian scored last time out, in Everton’s excellent 3-0 win over Leeds United.
Richarlison, 24, scored only his fourth Premier League goal of the season last time out in what has been a frustrating season for the Brazil international. Calf and knee injuries have hampered his progress in 21-22.
The attacker is now fully fit and has started the last three Premier League games. He is expected to start once again on Saturday – as the Toffees travel south to take on Southampton. The Saints are in excellent form of late.
Lampard was asked about the ex-Watford man in his press conference and he heaped praise on his no.7. However, the new Toffees boss says that there is more to come from Richarlison – suggesting he is not yet at his best.
“I wouldn’t compare him, he’s his own player. What I’ve seen of him, I’ve loved every bit. The group love him for how he is around the place. His constant mobility is a great thing, there’s a lot more to come from him.”
Lampard on Richarlison: Everton star can grow under new manager
When Lampard was appointed, there was hesitation. The ex-Chelsea gaffer did a good job at Derby and while he was superb in his first season at Stamford Bridge – he could not get his influx of new signings to gel.
He is inexperienced, and it is a new approach from Everton. But what Lampard does bring, is a man with a-list calibre and a gaffer that players will want to learn from. Richarlison can shine under the new boss.
