During his appearances on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme on Sunday April 9th, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard discussed Spurs star Dele Alli and the incredible run of form he is currently in.

The 20-year-old scored again yesterday, during Tottenham’s impressive 4-0 win over Watford, taking his tally to 16 goals in 30 Premier League appearances this season – a quite remarkable return for a midfield player.

His displays have seen comparisons drawn between himself and former Chelsea and England international Frank Lampard, due to their incredible knack of making perfectly timed runs into the penalty area.

Lampard scored 177 Premier League goals during his glittering career in the English game, but Alli is well on course to surpass the three time Premier League winner, with 26 league goals in the top flight to his name already.

And Lampard was asked if he thought the Tottenham star would go on to beat his personal goal tally, when speaking on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme:

“Well I’m hoping that he stays playing with Harry Kane because he takes penalties! He could do, I think he could do, of all the midfield players I’ve seen, and it’s a bit of a thing for me that midfield players don’t score enough goals, he’s the one who naturally does it. If he stays fit, and has a long career, then the way he’s going he will beat it.”

The former MK Dons man has been a major driving force behind Spurs’ superb 2016/17 Premier League campaign, and with seven points still separating them and league leaders Chelsea, he will need to maintain his fine form if Mauricio Pochettino’s men are to have any chance whatsoever of overhauling Antonio Conte’s side.
