Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma didn’t put a foot wrong, as Frank Lampard’s side beat Ajax yesterday.

Frank Lampard has raved about Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma’s display against Ajax to Football London.
Zouma was selected to start for Chelsea in Holland yesterday, and he helped his side pick up an impressive 1-0 victory in the Dutch capital.
Ajax have a huge amount of attacking threats available to them, but Chelsea’s defence coped well with everything that was thrown at them.
Zouma, in particular, was strong in the tackle and composed in possession, as the Blues took a giant stride closer to securing their progress from their group.
And Lampard was hugely impressed by the French defender’s display.
“Kurt Zouma, wow, what a performance. That is the blueprint. No excuses now to dip from that,” Lampard said.
Zouma will surely be encouraged to hear Lampard’s words, as he actually had a difficult start to the campaign.
Zouma fell out of Chelsea’s team after a difficult first few weeks of the season, but he seems to have regained his place now.

Antonio Rudiger is fighting to come back to fitness, but Zouma’s recent performance will certainly have given Lampard food for thought over his defensive selections.
Chelsea are next in action against Burnley at the weekend, when Zouma looks likely to be given the nod to start again.
