Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford amid reports that Tottenham and Newcastle are interested in signing him. The England stopper was in top form against Leicester City on Sunday.
Pickford, 28, has only kept six Premier League clean sheets all season – but two of those have come in the last five games as Everton claw themselves out of the relegation mire. Sunday’s win sees them sit in a safer 16th place.

He produced a couple of world-class saves, according to Garth Crooks on Sunday, as Everton secured another win. TalkSPORT claim Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in Pickford, and Lampard has praised him.
“He’s doing that for us, he’s in great form. We need that. We need our big players at the moment. Moments like Jordan’s saves are huge for us. You need top level players to deliver and he did,” Lampard said, on Pickford.

Pickford has now spent the last five years of his career at Everton and is approaching the peak years of a goalkeeper’s life. He will have a decision to make, either sign a new deal or move on, with his contract ending in 2024.
So, does he stay or does he go? A move to Tottenham would be illustrious, and is likely to see him replace Hugo Lloris with the Frenchman in the twilight of his career. He would instantly start for Newcastle.
But if Everton do stay up, perhaps seeing what Lampard does in the summer might convince Pickford to give it one more season. As a goalkeeper, he does have time on his side.
