Rangers are reportedly set to bring midfielder Andy King to Ibrox.
Rangers are back in action this evening, taking on Midtjylland in the second leg of their Europa League qualifying clash, with Steven Gerrard looking to take another step closer to the group stage of the competition.
The Gers have a 4-2 lead from the first leg, meaning they are hot favourites to advance, and Gerrard will be hoping to avoid a Celtic-like slip-up in Europe.
He’ll also be hoping for some good news in the transfer market, as another new recruit appears to be on the verge of joining Rangers, with Andy King close to signing.
The Herald report that King will sign a season-long loan deal, with the Leicester City midfielder all set to join up with Gerrard’s men after tonight’s game.
The 30-year-old has impressed as a goalscoring midfielder in the past, but has found first-team football harder and harder to come by with Leicester in recent times.
A Welsh international, King spent the second half of last season with Derby County under Frank Lampard, who told the Leicester Mercury that he feels King is a ‘quality’ player has bags of experience, which is what Gerrard is looking for.
That’s interesting as Lampard told Sport360 that he and Gerrard are in regular contact as they embark on their managerial careers, and Gerrard will have surely asked for his old pal’s opinion on King.
King suffered an injury early into his time at Derby, curtailing his impact, but with Lampard clearly a big fan, he’ll have surely given Gerrard a positive recommendation.
