Lampard has put pen to paper to become Derby’s new boss.

New Derby County manager Frank Lampard has posted on Instagram after being confirmed as the Rams’ new manager on Thursday morning.
Derby confirmed on their official website that 39-year-old Lampard has taken over at Pride Park, replacing the loss of former boss Gary Rowett who has joined relegated Premier League side Stoke City.

The Chelsea and England legend has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, despite staging interviews with Championship rivals Ipswich Town earlier this summer.
In what is his first foray into management, Lampard posted on Instagram his delight at joining Championship giants Derby by stating he is “excited” to join a club with “such huge tradition and history”.
Derby suffered a loss in the Championship play-off semi-finals this season, being knocked out by Fulham who eventually beat Aston Villa to gain promotion to the Premier league at Wembley.
Lampard will be tasked with reaching the top six of England’s second division once again or even better, with the pressure firmly stacked on his shoulders at a club who are renowned for their high turnover of managers.
Since Nigel Clough’s departure in 2013, Derby have appointed Steve McClaren, Paul Clement, Darren Wassall, Nigel Pearson, McClaren again, Rowett and now Lampard. He is contracted at Derby until 2021.
