Theo Walcott failed to make much of an impact for Everton in the Merseyside derby yesterday.

Frank Lampard has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 7th April, that Theo Walcott needs to start using his pace more for Everton.

Walcott was surprisingly underused in Everton’s match against Liverpool yesterday.

The Toffees seemingly were keen to have Walcott back to help out defensively, which limited their attacking threat.

And Lampard questioned whether Walcott was involved enough, after Everton’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

The Chelsea legend said of the £20 million signing from Arsenal: “That’s always been a question with him, does he use his pace enough? It took him 75 minutes to get into the game. He did a job for his team, so fair play on that front. But when Theo got to him [Klavan] he created opportunities.”

Walcott did create opportunities for Everton late on, but he could not help Sam Allardyce’s side break the deadlock.

The manner of Everton’s performance once again caused frustration, as many in the Goodison Park crowd felt they were too passive.

The Toffees kept men behind the ball, and only started committing men forward in the last few minutes.

Everton are still in ninth place in the Premier League table following the Merseyside derby draw, with their next match coming against Swansea City.
