Frank Lampard has told The Mirror that he loves Romelu Lukaku’s attitude and the way he plays the game.
The Everton hitman is heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but L’Equipe reported this month that the London club have reservations over his £78 million fee.
Nevertheless, the powerful 24-year-old marksman, who netted 25 Premier League goals for the Toffees last season, is clearly a class act and Lampard is a big fan of his.
The duo were previously team-mates at Stamford Bridge, and the Premier League legend reveals that his former colleague would be the ideal man to replace the linked-away Diego Costa in West London.
“I love his attitude – the way he plays. He is very determined. I remember training with him. He was always practising,” he told The Mirror.
“He deserves the best and if you are talking about Chelsea and if Diego Costa does move on, they want to get someone like for like in the style of a big front man to score goals, then Lukaku has proved he can do that.”
Everton have had an excellent transfer window so far, spending over £50 million on the likes of Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen, but they are also expected to complete a move for Malaga hitman Sandro Ramirez this week.
Manager Ronald Koeman has also been linked with a move for Burnley striker Andre Gray, who is available for £10 million according to The Mirror.
