Frank Lampard has disagreed with Jurgen Klopp’s claims that Chelsea are the favourites for the Premier League title by insisting that Liverpool and Manchester City are ‘ pretty much everyone’s favourites’, as quoted by Four Four Two.
The Englishman also claimed that Liverpool proved against Wolves that their squad can ‘cope’ with the injuries that they have suffered and Tottenham are also ‘in the equation’ in the race to become champions this season.
At the start of the season, Liverpool, Man City and big-spending Chelsea would have been on everyone’s list to push for the title, but not those in North London.
Even though Liverpool are the champions, Klopp felt that it was Chelsea who are the favourites and Lampard issued this response to the German’s claims.
“I’m not sure anyone actually really went for it [on Klopp making Chelsea favourites],” said Lampard.
“I think Liverpool and Manchester City seem to be pretty much everyone’s favourites, when they perform the way they have in the last three years, building up the squads they have over the last few years. Quite rightly so.
“Even with injuries you look at Liverpool’s squad, the team they put out (against Wolves), they cope with those injuries. They have a big squad and most teams in the Premier League do.
“Tottenham are in the equation, so are Manchester United and so are others at this point. It’s very tight – I don’t know, but he [Klopp] can have his opinion.”

There’s no doubt that Klopp is playing mind games and trying to ease the pressure off his injury-hit squad and add more pressure on his rivals.
Added with Liverpool’s problems, Manchester City’s slow start and playing behind-closed-doors, it has resulted in many fans questioning whether there will be a surprise winner this season.
Could that come in the form of Spurs, who have looked efficient in front of goal with their deadly duo Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, whilst their defence is getting stronger as each game passes by?
But from Tottenham’s perspective, more of the pressure will still be on those in Merseyside, their London rivals and even Manchester City, who are slowly climbing to the top.
