Frank Lampard has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 6th March, that West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic could have done no more last night.

Bilic set out his West Ham side to press high against Chelsea and try and swing crosses into the box for Andy Carroll to attack.

The Hammers started well in the fixture, and had Chelsea pressed back for much of the opening half hour.

However, the Blues dealt with West Ham’s aerial threat, and ended up capitalising on a Mark Noble error to take the lead.

Chelsea’s devastating speed on the counter attack was highlighted once again, as Antonio Conte’s side scored their first goal through Eden Hazard.

West Ham then gave away a cheap goal, when Diego Costa prodded home from close range from a corner.

And although Manuel Lanzini pulled one back late on, it was to prove nothing more than a consolation.

The Hammers’ defeat was a disappointment for their supporters, but Lampard insists that they could have done little more to win the tie on the night.

“I thought it was a decent performance,” the midfielder, who played for both West Ham and Chelsea, said.

“I don’t think Slaven Bilic can do anymore. The second goal is a mess to concede. There were positives to it, I don’t think they played that badly. Their league position is pretty true at the minute.”
