The Dutchman has become the fan favourite to take over from former Rangers boss Mark Warburton at Ibrox.
Rangers parted company with Mark Warburton yesterday. After weeks of speculation the Englishman has left Ibrox in confusing circumstances.
In the wake of his exit there have been plenty of names linked with the role, including Frank De Boer.
The former Ajax and Inter Milan manager is currently without a job after his sorry spell at the San Siro ended swiftly earlier this season.
Ex-Inter Milan coach Frank de Boer
But he is still considered a top coach and is of course a former Rangers player. The Dutch legend spent a brief but memorable period at Rangers in 2004 and the 112-cap player is clearly one of the fan favourites for the job.
But he has now confirmed his position on a potential Rangers role. Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ he stated:
“Not right now. I’m just taking a break. I’m looking more to next season & hopefully to start in pre-season.
“It’s my first time in 33 years that I’ve had a break for two or three months and I’m enjoying that.
“I’d always listen, that’s for sure. (But) no (they have not approached me.)”
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and former Inter Milan manager Frank de Boer before the game
So it seems De Boer is not ruling out a potential manager role at Rangers however, any deal to bring him to Ibrox would have to wait until the summer.
But he is the type of high-profile name that Rangers fans want to see in their fight to outdo local rivals Celtic, who appointed Brendan Rodgers in the summer.
