Franco Ibarra has today been spotted leaving Atlanta United training early having failed to take part in today’s session.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Five Stripes beat writer Doug Roberson, Ibarra was not seen in training before driving off having watched the session for a few minutes, with Atlanta’s U22 dispute potentially leading to an exit for the midfielder.

As reported by the Striker’s J. Sam Jones, Atlanta have all three U22 incentive spots filled, and with Ibarra now being seen leaving training this morning, there is cause to believe that the Argentine youngster could be ready to leave the Georgia franchise.

Indeed, Atlanta announced this week the signing of French midfielder Tristan Muyumba. And although the 26-year-old won’t be ready to play for Gonzalo Pineda’s side for a few weeks, Ibarra’s potential departure could leave a major void in the squad this summer.

Ibarra’s potential departure has already gone down like a lead ballon in the Atlanta fanbase, and as a result, the MLS giants have to do all they can to resolve this issue, with the U22 initiative seemingly the reason why the midfielder today stormed off from training.

As we know, Atlanta are over the limit of three players that can be signed up to the program. And whilst Edwin Mosquera and Erik Lopez are exciting prospects, Ibarra offers something few midfielders in MLS can, a factor that’s even more impressive when you consider the South American’s tender age.
