Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has told the Daily Mail he believes they have shown their character as a side in the last week.

The Gunners secured a 4-1 win over Hull City on Saturday afternoon to move them up into fourth in the table.

It capped off a good week for Arsene Wenger’s side after their draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek and the win over Southampton last weekend.

Both of those games tested their resolve as they scored a late winner to beat the Saints and secured a late draw in Paris.

And Coquelin believes they have shown their character, which is a very good sign for the future.

“I think in the last few weeks we have shown our character,” he told the Daily Mail.

“In the last two games, we were behind and came back into it. Today [against Hull City] we showed that even when a team comes back at us we have the character to finish it off. So that’s good for the future.”

Arsenal are currently third in the table after Tottenham Hotspur moved ahead of them courtesy of their win over Sunderland.

Wenger’s side have ten points from their first five games, which is decent tally at this early stage of the season.

With this season looking likely to be one of the most competitive in a number of years, they will need to continue showing this newfound character to ensure they competitors.
